Coach Jared Lustman has been teaching Physical Education at Hillel for the past two years. He has a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Political Science from Towson University in Maryland and is currently pursuing his Master's degree in the field of Education. Coach Jared recently moved to LA from Baltimore and has found that the Hillel community is truly a a vibrant new population of children eager to learn and to produce. While it is commonplace for children to want to "win" as a primary motivator, and, clearly, the Hillel Hawks clearly want to win, he has also discovered that the Hillel children were also just as eager to learn lessons that they could take from the field of athletics and apply them productively to their lives moving forward. He is committed to providing those lessons.
Over the years Coach Jared has found that what children think of themselves often determines what they make of themselves. Therefore, he is also committed to giving every child every ounce of his energy so that they know he believes in them individually as well as collectively. He was impressed with the spirit of our Hillel children, displayed not just after victories, but after tough losses as well. This was a good first step in the culture of "winning" that he would like to see become imbedded in our community. To Jared, "winning" does not just mean gaining the higher score, of course, but, most importantly, acquiring an attitude of aiming high and not settling for giving anything less than your best, both on and off the court.

Coach Warren S. Stewart has taught Physical Education to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. He has been teaching for the past 14 years but is new to Hillel this year. He previously taught P.E. at Laurence School and Sinai Akiba Academy but is looking forward to enhancing the P.E. curriculum at Hillel in the coming years. Coach Stewart graduated from SDSU in 1998 with a BS in Health Education/Health Science. Coach Warren has traveled to Cal State Fullerton for the past 7 years to speak about the importance of curriculum development at the CAPHERD (California Association of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance) Conference. As a 13 year veteran of Physical Education, Coach Warren believes that it is important to offer a variety of programs designed to teach and allow students to grow.
