Policies
There are three main Library policies:
1. Respect Yourself
2. Respect Others
3. Respect Property
With these policies in mind, the following provides more detail to how students can get the most out of their school library experience.
> Students are welcome to visit and use the Library whenever the Library is open.
> Students should use quiet voices in the Library so that others may work and read in a quiet environment.
> Students may take books from the Library only after they have been properly checked-out.
> Students in second through eighth grade may check-out one book at a time for two weeks. Books returned late are considered overdue.
> Overdue fines for students is 10 cents per day.
> Students should be very conscientious about keeping their Library books safe, clean, and dry so that others may enjoy them in good condition. That means you should not write or draw in a Library book, and be sure that you keep your books away from water or other liquids and sticky foods. Check your backpacks before putting your book in it, to be sure it's dry.
> Other suggestions for keeping books in good condition include: use a bookmark, rather than folding over the corner of a page; close a book when putting it down, rather than turning it over when it's open, as this breaks the spine; turning pages carefully from the corner to keep pages from getting ripped.
> Books that are damaged or lost must be replaced. Replacement costs are: Hardcovers-$20.00, Paperbacks-$10.00.
> Food and drinks attract bugs that can damage books, not to mention cause mold to grow on books. Therefore, no food or drinks are allowed in the Library at any time.
A Note to Parents: Parents are welcome to visit the Library. If a class is in session, Ms. Allen will assist you when the class has ended.
